Junior Grant Winner Evelyn Heath Introduces Disc Golf – Evelyn Heath, a 2018 junior grant winner from Australia, has taken on multiple events to introduce people to disc golf. In the midst of a busy tournament season and working hard to raise money to be able to come to Emporia, Kansas this July, Evelyn has taught many people about disc golf. Read more here.

Check In With Two 2017 Junior Grant Winners – Both Lydia Lyons and Virginia Polkinghorne compete in local events that were part of the Women’s Global event. Each of them won their division at these events. Additionally Lydia has spent some time helping out at a Family Fun Day event hosted by her local parks department. Eagles Wings Youth Programs Off And Running – It is so exciting to see the youth disc golf scene taking off, and we are grateful for the opportunities we have to meet a need in the disc golf community while sharing the love of Christ.  One of our very first programs was a youth league we ran at Sellersville. Eagles Wings UNCHAINED Is Back! – The second annual Eagles Wings: UNCHAINED Ministry Conference was another great weekend! We had about 20 disc golfers traveling as far as Pittsburgh. Camp Tecumseh partnered with us again, hosting us at their incredible facility. We were blessed with gorgeous weather this year, which allowed us the opportunity to take advantage of the course this time around. Read more here.

Grant Winner and Tournament Director: Wyatt Mahoney – Wyatt Mahoney became a Tournament Director to run the first Junior only tournament in Connecticut. It was a balmy 32 degrees for this April tournament, but 28 participants, from as far away as Maine, showed up to throw some discs and have a great time. Read more here.

Eagles Wings Staff Assists with the Largest Disc Golf Event In History – Our staff had the opportunity to host a clinic with a local church, offer chapel at another church in town, oversee one of the courses used for the tournament, and run the juniors tournament at the end of the week. We are very grateful for the doors God has been opening in the disc golf community and for the partnerships and relationships that are developing. Eagles Wings Staff Updates – We are blessed to announce a couple of new things. After a long support raising process, Chris Rodriguez has officially joined the staff of Eagles Wings on a part time basis. He will begin by focusing on the local ministry of Eagles Wings in Washington. Leah Cole has been asked to join the team as a ministry associate in Michigan. She will begin raising support with the hopes of beginning work soon. Read more here.

This year was incredibly difficult as there were so many amazing applicants. There are so many deserving kids who are making a difference in their local disc golf community. 2018 Grant Winners Announced This Tuesday! – This year we received a record number of applications for the Eagles Wings Disc Golf Junior Grant. Disc Golf Thrives in Zambia – Less than two years ago the Marco Polo grant was the start of something big in Zambia, Africa. With the help of the grant, Eagles Wings Disc Golf took a team of 8 to Zambia to install a 9 hole disc golf course and teach the sport. Before the team left Elem predicted that he saw disc golf as something that would have “long life” in Zambia. It turns out not only was he right, but he would lead the way in making that happen. Read more here!

Eagles Wings International Impact – Eagles Wings Disc Golf has now traveled to both Zambia and Costa Rica to build disc golf courses. It has been over a year and a half since disc golf was introduced in Macha, Zambia and we are thrilled that the game continues to be a hit here with our children and staff. We want to highlight one of our staff in particular, Wilborn. Patri Pringle, a pre-school teacher in Costa Rica, has been using disc golf as a fun new activity for the children in her class. Recently, Patri held a Disc Golf mini tournament for the kids in her class and the response was one of great excitement! Read more here!

The Eagles Wings Junior Grant is Back in 2018 – In 2017 we started the Eagles Wings Disc Golf Junior Grant program with the help of some generous donors and partners. We were blessed to end up with four amazing Junior disc golfers who were striving to make a difference in their local disc golf communities. Eagles Wings One Year Bible Challenge – The challenge to read the bible with us comes out of our deep desire to grow closer to God through the reading of His word. Will you join us this year? Eagles Wings Store Coming This Week – We are often asked where someone can buy an Eagles Wings shirt. Regrettably, we have not had a good answer to this question until now. This Wednesday we plan to go live with a store that will have several different apparel options. Celebrating with One of Our Junior Grant Winners – Recently, 14 year old Silas Schultz, had an incredible showing at the Next Generation Disc Golf National Championships. We are incredibly proud of Silas for not just the way he competed, but for how he conducted himself on the course throughout the competition. A Time for Sabbatical – Jim Shultz has been in ministry for over 30 years and is the person responsible for the name Eagles Wings Disc Golf!  He has been with us since the start of the ministry under Push The Rock and we have all been blessed by Jim’s years of experience and youthful energy. Eagles Wings to Help Launch Premier Juniors Events in 2018 – With the success of our Regional Championships among other events, we have been invited to partner in some pretty incredible initiatives for 2018. In 2018 juniors in the sport will have the opportunity to participate in both a Junior World Championship and a Junior United States Championship. We are grateful for opportunity to be part of these historical events and look forward to all that 2018 will hold for Eagles Wings Disc Golf! 2017 Eagles Wing Chapel Report – This past year has marked a significant growth in our chapel ministry on many levels. One of the biggest challenges for the chapel ministry is that the tournaments take place all over the country and our team is fairly small. Our whole team is encouraged by the growth and the number of people that we are connected to because of our chapel services. We are already beginning to plan for next year and can’t wait to see what the Lord has for us. Read more here!

A Season Ends at the USDGC for Eagles Wings – The United States Disc Golf Championship marked the close of what has been a busy season of ministry! Having the opportunity to pray for the competitors, staff and the event itself at the opening ceremony is a great honor, and something we are grateful to be part of. On top of that former NFL player, Pete Metzelaars shared the message with us and provided a great challenge for the group. Eagles Wings Back in Costa Rica – Earlier this year Eagles Wings Disc Golf sent a team of ten people down to Costa Rica. In an effort to continue the growth of the sport, we recently sent Chad Benavidez back to Costa Rica. With the course we built last time and the success of clinics, the owner of a private park in San Jose showed interest in building a new disc golf course. Talks have begun to send another team from Eagles Wings to Costa Rica to build this new course and teach even more to play the sport we love. Read more here!

Eagles Wings Building a New Course at Judson College – Eagles Wings is blessed to be able to work with Judson College in the construction of a new disc golf course. Jim Schultz and the local team in the Michigan area are working hard to provide a fun opportunity for students at Judson to learn and play the sport of disc golf. The designs have been completed and we have begun to work on the property to prepare it for the course. There is still plenty of work to do on this course but for now things are looking good. 2017 Am and Junior Worlds Recap – We had three of our full-time staff members there, and three of our junior grant recipients. There were over 600 players competing, and a jam-packed schedule for the week for all the competitors between rounds of disc golf, and fun activities for them to do. Jim Schultz headed up the Eagles Wings components of the event which started off with a chapel open to all competitors. Eagles Wings Flying to the Amateur and Junior Disc Golf World Championships – The PDGA Amateur and Junior Disc Golf world championships is always a great gathering of disc golfers from across the world. We are looking forward to another great chapel as well as celebrating our first ever Eagles Wings Junior Disc Golf Grant winners and watching team member Elijah Hogan compete in his first Junior World Championships. If you will be in the quad cities area, please make sure to connect with us as you can. Eagles Wings Disc Golf at the World Championships – We were blessed and honored to be invited to participate in the Professional Disc Golf World Championships by the PDGA. On Monday night we were asked to host a clinic at Fort Gordon, a military base that was utilized for the event. We had over 100 people come out for the clinic, including a large number of active military members and their families. On Tuesday evening we hosted a chapel for the players and staff that wanted to join us. A Junior Disc Golf Weekend! – This past Saturday we had 95 junior disc golfers competing in Eagles Wings events held in Michigan and Pennsylvania. 69 juniors ages 5-18 traveled to Earl Brewer Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan for our 2nd Annual Midwest Junior Regional last Saturday. This was our second year running this event at Kenilworth and we are excited to say that it was a success. Next up in the region will be the Mid-Atlantic Junior Regional which we encourage everyone to join us for. Eagles Wings Disc Golf at the Glass Blown Open – The Glass Blown Open has a long running reputation for being one of the biggest and best run tournaments of the year and have for at least the third time now been a stop on the PDGA National Tour. Our involvement started with an opportunity to partner with a local church to run a disc golf clinic for the local community. We were also able to do a service project as a team in order to prepare a course for the Junior Challenge event at the end of the Glass Blown Open week. Even with bad weather moving in, Dustin, Hannah and Jim were also able to run the Junior event. Unchained: The Christian Disc Golf Conference – Eagles Wings Disc Golf is proud to announce UnChained. This year we will offer this disc golf conference in two different locations in an attempt to bring together local Christian Disc Golfers and encourage each other to pursue Christ in the disc golf community. We hope that with the success of these conferences to be able to offer them in more locations in future years. New Page for Eagles Wings: Tools for the Road – Eagles Wings Disc Golf is excited to announce a new section on our web page called, “Tools For The Road”. This section will be filled with apps for your phone and tablets, podcasts to listen to, blogs to read, and even a place to submit prayer requests. We have been blessed by the chapel service ministry and the way we’ve been able to walk alongside so many as their faiths continue to grow, even as they are away from their own, local, church bodies. Costa Rica Disc Golf Trip: 3/19/2017 Update – As the week wound down and the course successfully launched, we were able to have a little fun before we headed home. Early Saturday morning, we made the three-hour trek to take a canopy tour and soak in the hot springs in La Fortuna. So far this morning, we’ve taken the time to pray together, recap and share some of the incredible lessons that we’ve learned this week. Costa Rica Disc Golf Trip: 3/17/2017 Update – In partnership with Students International we did an event at the course to officially introduce it to the community.  We had about 165 people there with a big majority of them being kids. It was a nice end to an extremely busy and productive week.  We had a great time together this evening studying, sharing and worshiping. Costa Rica Disc Golf Trip: 3/16/2017 Update – This morning the team woke up early and after a quick breakfast started the journey to La Reforma, a large prison outside of San Jose.  We did two different clinics for groups of 15 boys at a time. In the afternoon we all went to the course to complete our work there. It is really clear that God brought this group of people together for this purpose as the personalities, and skill sets have worked together perfectly. Costa Rica Disc Golf Trip: 3/15/2017 Update – In the morning we spent about an hour and a half with 35 kids teaching them in a soccer field by their school.  It was a beautiful setting seeing the mountains in the background surrounding the field. The team spent a lot of time painting tee signs, tee markers, digging holes and pouring concrete in the morning.  It was grueling work in the hot sun, but the team worked very well together and got a lot done. Costa Rica Disc Golf Trip: 3/14/2017 Update – With a lot of work to do the team split up with half going to the course site, and half going to a school near the course.  At the course the team was able to work together to create a great 9 hole layout.  The goal is for the layout to be beginner friendly, but also be challenging for the players who eventually take their game to the next level. The other half of the team went to the school to lead clinics. Costa Rica Disc Golf Trip: 3/13/2017 Update – We got off to an early start boarding the bus after breakfast to head to a local school.  We were informed the space would be a challenge, and there may be some behavioral issues. In the afternoon we had the chance to walk the property where we will be installing the course.  Each of us came away excited about the prospect of the course that could be. The day concluded with a great meal, and a time of worship, testimonies, and Bible study. Costa Rica Disc Golf Trip: 3/12/2017 Update – Well, our team has finally settled in to our home away from home in San Jose, Costa Rica! It was a long day of traveling and we encountered a few bumps along the way but we are excited to start our ministry here. We almost didn’t make it here with all of our equipment. There was a little mix-up with the baggage situation and our portable baskets needed to fly stand-by. Waking up this morning, we had delicious pastries for breakfast from the bakery right across the street and then we joined Nattie at her home church. 2017 Eagles Wings Disc Golf Junior Grant – In our search this year to find four outstanding young disc golfers we have read applications from over 30 people. Every applicant has shown that they are willing to work hard to not only improve their own disc golf game but also to share the game with many others. In the past, these young people have helped to run leagues, volunteered at course work days, and taught others to play the sport they love. They are all committed to continuing to do more to help grow the sport of disc golf. Read more now!

Professional Disc Golfer Video Series on Faith – Eagles Wings Disc Golf wanted to give a few professional players in the sport a platform to share how they approach the sport in regards to their faith. We polled our Facebook followers and found out their burning questions regarding how to balance everything, what preparations they make going into a tournament, and how they stay connected during a busy tournament season. Eagles Wings Disc Golf Premier Event Dates 2017 – Eagles Wings Disc Golf is excited to announce our premier event dates for 2017!  While our schedule will be packed with clinics, leagues, smaller events, and more, the premier events will be the biggest that we offer in our established regions. Apply Now for the Eagles Wings Junior Grant – Driven by our desire to see youth disc golf grow, and inspired by the Nate Doss Grant Program from 2016, Eagles Wings Disc Golf is offering their own Grant Program for 2017.  This past year we worked with well over 1,000 youth teaching clinics, running leagues, and hosting tournaments and we are excited about the future of youth disc golf.  As a faith-based organization, we rely on donations and the support of others, and we have been blessed with a gift from a generous donor that allows us to offer this program. Eagles Wings Disc Golf Team Member Wins Major Title – It has been an eventful year so far for Eagles Wings Disc Golf, and this weekend was no exception.  Team member, Hannah Leatherman, competed in the United States Disc Golf Women’s Championship in Ohio, and came out on top winning by just one stroke!  While it was a great personal accomplishment for Hannah, it has opened the door to share the ministry of Eagles Wings with many additional people in the disc golf community!
