Guatemala Internships

Join Andi and Shauna in San Antonio Aguas Calientes, a small town about 20 minutes outside the tourist city of Antigua. Sitting in the valley at the base of a volcano, it is a picturesque location. Broken homes, poverty, and life without Jesus take some of the shine off of the town, but the after school ministry that just started has brought tremendous hope and excitement to a growing number of families.

Kids, ages 6-13, attend the after school program several days a week for sports, English, homework help, snacks, and a Bible lesson. It is a safe place where kids will see, experience and learn more about the love, hope and peace that Christ provides. Be a part of the team that ministers to these families on a daily basis. Building relationships with the kids and their families is a critical part of this internship, as much as helping to plan, prep and lead the various parts of the after school program. Andi and Shauna are looking to start basketball and soccer teams, host tournaments and run community events in the near future.

Shauna’s family runs an organization called “Hope for Home” that has several homes for special needs kids in the same area. Unable to be cared for by their families, Hope for Home ministers to their daily needs through the love of Christ. Serving with PTR Guatemala would put you in regular touch with these kids who desperately need love and attention.

It is not a prerequisite to know and understand Spanish, but it is highly recommended as all programs and events are run in Spanish. As needed, language classes are available and included as a part of this internship.

If you have specific questions about the internship, please reach out to Andi at abrubaker@pushtherock.org.
