Eagles Wings Disc Golf Team Member Wins Major Title!

It has been an eventful year so far for Eagles Wings Disc Golf, and this weekend was no exception.  Team member, Hannah Leatherman, competed in the United States Disc Golf Women’s Championship in Ohio, and came out on top winning by just one stroke!  While it was a great personal accomplishment for Hannah, it has opened the door to share the ministry of Eagles Wings with many additional people in the disc golf community!  If you want to read more details about the event CLICK HERE.  We also highly encourage you to “like” Eagles Wings Disc Golf on facebook to stay up to date on all that the Lord is doing through this ministry!

Push The Rock Adds New Disc Golf Ministry: Eagles Wings Disc Golf

If you are keeping up with Push The Rock happenings you know there has been a lot going on. God continues to open doors and bless the ministry with new opportunities and for this we are thankful. We are excited to announce the addition of a brand new disc golf ministry, Eagles Wings Disc Golf.

It is estimated that there are now 2 million disc golfers who play regularly at 4700 courses around the world with 2000 tournaments held annually. Currently there is no major Christian influence in the sport and we plan to fill this void. Eagles Wings Disc Golf will operate as a division of Push The Rock to use the sport of disc golf to impact the world for Jesus Christ…one life at a time!

Sharing the Gospel Behind Bars: 3/7 SCI Graterford Recap

On March 7th, Push The Rock had an opportunity to share the Gospel with the inmates of SCI Graterford when we had the chance to play a game of basketball. The game itself was very exciting as both teams gave everything they had. Most importantly, the Gospel message of Jesus Christ was shared and many great conversations came from it. We appreciate your support of our prison ministry, and encourage you to take some time to visit the Game Recap page to read more about the day.

Sharing the Gospel Behind Bars: 2/21 SCI Chester Recap

On Saturday February 21st the Push The Rock prison ministry team had an opportunity to visit SCI Chester for the first time ever. The team played great but came up short at the end.  Although the team did not win the basketball game, the day was very successful because the Gospel was shared with at least 100 inmates.  The experience went so well, that SCI Chester gave PTR and open invite to come back.  We appreciate your support of our prison ministry, and encourage you to take some time to visit the Game Recap page to read more about the day.

Sharing the Gospel Behind Bars: 2/7 Doubleheader Recap

On Saturday February 7th the Push The Rock prison ministry team had an opportunity to visit two prisons, SCI Retreat and SCI Dallas. PTR Prison Ministry 3 v 3 Hoops Tourney – Recap

The 1st Annual Push The Rock Prison Ministry 3 v 3 Tournament is in the books, and it was a great success! The tournament could not have happened without the sponsorship of The Quantify Group, Push Technology INC. and the tremendous group of volunteers who helped referee, keep score, and work concessions. We are also very grateful for all 70 competitors who participated in the night.  In all 20 teams came out to support the cause.  Competitors also had the opportunity to participate in a 3 point competition, half court competition, and knockout competition.

The competition was great all night, but of course only a few could emerge victorious.  In a closely contested championship game Team D-League Euro Step (Demond Vance, Nahfees Akbar, and Tyrone Lecato) defeated the 3 Bucketeers (Daniel Brndjar, Derek Tannous, Nate Tannous, and Pat Tannous) to take home the cash prize of $150. Although Pat Tannous came up short in the tournament championship, he was able to walk away as the 3 point competition champion with 17 three-pointers made in just 1 minute. Brian Branson was able to fend off all other competitors in an impressive victory in our knockout competition. During the half court competition many players competed, but only Tyler Rapose walked away making the difficult shot.

While the tournament, and competitions were a great time the primary reason for this event was to raise money for the Push The Rock prison ministry that has been growing every year.  This January marks the start of our 4th year taking teams into the prisons, and we have taken on a more aggressive schedule than ever before.  In our first year running this tournament we were able to raise close to $600 to help us cover rising costs associated with the ministry.  We are thrilled that the first year was such a success, and encourage you to join us again next year for the 2nd Annual Tournament!  To read more about our prison ministry click here.

TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS:  Team D-League Euro Step – Demond Vance, Nahfees Akbar, Tyrone Lecato
