Costa Rica- Clarks Summit Men’s Soccer Team Update 3.6.17

Monday, March 6

Today started with another delicious breakfast. Our morning also consisted of Team Time and going to the park to prepare for our upcoming clinics. It turned out to be a busy morning but got us prepared for the rest of the week. We ate lunch and then headed to a local Christian school for our first of several soccer clinics this week. We had the opportunity to work with three different grades during our time there. We had the first two groups for an hour and the last group for 30 minutes. Each session included a sportsmanship thought, skill stations, and a testimony at the end. We will be back at this school on Thursday so we’re looking forward to the opportunity to see these kids again. After the clinic, we headed back to AMCA to eat dinner and get ready for our first friendly match of the week.

The match was very even for most of the first half. The opposing team scored late in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. The score remained 1-0 until early in the second half we cashed in on a penalty kick, tying the score at 1-1. However, a few minutes later the opposing team went up 2-1 on a penalty kick of their own. The Push The Rock team played hard but was unable to overcome the deficit. Afterwards, one of our team members had the opportunity to share his testimony with the opposing team. The other team seemed very receptive as our teammate shared his story and ultimately the Gospel. We then headed back to AMCA for the rest of our dinner, showers, and bedtime. We have an early morning tomorrow. 🙂
