Czech Republic #2

Dobrý den!

It’s hard to believe we’ve been here almost 3 days already. Time is flying but we praise God for the last few days and look forward to what he has in store for us.

Sunday we had the chance to catch up on some sleep from our long day of travel. At church, we had the opportunity to worship in Czech and English and the sermon was preached by a South African.

Getting to worship with fellow believers from a different culture is a great experience. It’s amazing to see and hear God praised in more than one language.

After church, we headed downtown for lunch. We went to a cafeteria for some traditional Czech food. It was time of great food and fellowship. After lunch, we stayed downtown for some sightseeing. We walked to the top of a church tower and saw a great view of the city. Prague is such a beautiful city with a rich history.

Sunday evening we spent time preparing ourselves and the equipment for camp. We are all ready and excited for our first day at camp. We ended the evening with Team Time. One team member shared a testimony and then we talked about Game Changers, which is our theme for the week. All in all, it was a great day!

Today was the start of our baseball camp.  Weather here has been rather pleasant, compared to how terribly hot it has been through most of the East Coast.

We started off our day with having all the kids introduced to all the coaches, and telling them why Push The Rock was excited to be there.  We then began to get them moving by doing some stretching and running drills.

We plan to focus on a different skill each day this week. Today our skill focus was throwing. Most of drills revolved around improving the kids throwing ability. It is fun to watch the kids, that have not ever touched a baseball, and begin to throw the ball with some decent accuracy.

Also, there are times for the coaches to share either their testimony, or a Sportsmanship Challenge.  Each of the coaches has the opportunity to share with the kids during these times throughout the week.  This part is a bit of a challenge, as we need to be very simple with sharing God’s love and how He can impact our lives.  Being an old Soviet block country, they have no real understanding of God and church.  Hmm, keeping it simple like the understanding of a child is how we need to present our testimony.

As our day of camp came to a close, there was an overall feeling of success.  Both the kids having a good time, and the coaches walking away feeling that we are successfully instructing baseball. We are excited to see what God has in store for us the rest of the week at camp.

After camp, we cleaned up and headed to a local restaurant for dinner with our missionary hosts. It was a great time of food and fellowship together.

After dinner, we had our Team Time. Our theme for this year is Game Changers. Tonight we talked about Jonathan and how he demonstrated boldness and confidence in his life. Our prayer is that we can live our lives with the same confidence and boldness Jonathan demonstrated.

Now it’s off to bed to rest up for another day of camp. Thanks for praying!

In Christ,

The Team
