Last week we had the pleasure of hosting a local school’s Easter Program here at Mumuni Hall, our rec center building. The school brought its entire student body and staff to share about Easter to the public through a play, scripture, and plenty of singing.
The Easter message of Jesus’ death and resurrection highlighted the morning, but beyond that, hosting the program here gave us another opportunity to open the building to neighbors in our community who we don’t often see. It was also a chance for us to see many of the children who come to PTRZ daily perform in front of their parents and peers, a side of them we do not get to see very often. As a staff it brought us great joy!
Often in life we get caught up our daily activities, focusing on difficulties we face or deadlines and tasks, even in the midst of a celebration like Easter. We are thankful for reminders like the one we experienced last week. As the school’s staff and student body of about 200 encouraged us to sing with them in their closing song, “O Happy Day,” we couldn’t help but join in.
‘The greatest day in history, death is beaten, you have rescued me.
Sing it out, Jesus is alive
The empty cross, the empty grave; Life eternal, You have won the day
Shout it out, Jesus is alive, He’s alive
OH HAPPY DAY, HAPPY DAY, you washed my sin away..
I’ll never be the same, Forever I am changed.’
