Italy Update #10

Buon giorno!

We are headed out to the airport in 90 minutes. Hard to believe our time in Italy is coming to a close. Praise the Lord for all that He has done! Time to take what we have learned about ourselves and about Him and put it into practice back home.

It was great to sleep in on Saturday! Some guys slept until after 11 am. Must have needed the rest! Guys got up, got breakfast on their own, which was a first for the trip, and then we had Team Time. It has been great to take a more in-depth look at our purpose as believers and how we can go about living out our purpose individually and together as followers of Christ.

We went into Venice, where we took a water bus over to the island of Murano, where they make the famed Murano glass. We made it in time to catch a glass making demonstration. A gentleman pulled glass out of the 1400 degree (Celsius) heat and formed a glass horse in less than 4 minutes. It was pretty neat to see. Some guys picked up some glass wear and then we walked the island for a few hours. It was totally different than the island of Venice because it was much less crowded … the complete opposite. We walked around for a bit before heading back to Venice and doing some shopping into the evening. We got home in time for “scoops” (of gelato) and bed time.

Sunday morning we got up and headed to church where we enjoyed another Sunday in the Lord’s house worshiping with our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Always a tremendous reminder that our God is the God of the nations! One of our team members preached and we enjoyed praise and worship through song and prayer. We enjoyed a farewell lunch together with everyone before making a late afternoon return to the house. Guys are pretty wiped so most people took a nap before we went out for one final dinner together. We went down to the local square for pizza where last week we watched Italy suffer a crushing defeat to Spain in the Euro Cup final. It was a bit more calm last night as we walked around.

We made one last stop at Claudio’s for “scoops” before returning home for Team Time and debriefing. Again, we are tremendously grateful to those of you who have been praying for us. We could not do it without you! However, God deserves all of the glory for His work in and through us over these 17 days. We are looking forward to seeing what the Lord does with the seeds that have been planted and watered!

Please pray for safety as we head out soon. One of our team members heads back to Scotland this morning as we fly to London and then on to the US.

To God be the Glory!
