Italy Update 5

“God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good.” That is probably the best way to describe the first week in Mestre. We had a fantastic week that culminated in a service this morning. It was a tremendous blessing to have 4 kids from camp here with their parents! Things do not always work out this way, but we are truly grateful to our Creator for His work in the lives of these families. Worship in the local church is absolutely a highlight on each and every trip … the family of God coming together.

We are leaving in a few hours for our second week of camp in Imola. We are excited about what God has in store for us. We are sad to leave our friends from Mestre behind, but know that God has a plan for them as much as he has a plan for this coming week.

Yesterday we slept in an extra hour for a change and then headed off to Venice. Such a beautiful city, it was crowded. Thankfully it was not as hot as it has been in the past. Scorching all week, it was only in the 80s and a bit overcast for time to time. Made for a perfect day in Venice.

To close out the day we had a special dinner to say Thank You to our translators and others who helped make the week possible. It was an unbelievable meal! The seafood and pasta just kept coming. It was so much that I cannot remember how many courses there were. I just know that we stuffed ourselves with fish and pasta. In true Italian style, we arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 pm and did not end up leaving until 12:30. Needless to say, it was both a long and rewarding day!

We leave Mestre in God’s hands and look forward to Imola! Thanks so much for praying for us over this past week. Please continue to pray.
