Miami Update #1
Our team has arrived in Miami safe and sound! The team left Emmaus at 10:00 this morning. It was a beautiful drive to the airport with the sun shining and puffy, white clouds in the blue sky. After grabbing lunch, we left the Philadelphia airport around 1:30 and arrived at the Tamp Bay airport at 4:30. We had a 40 minute layover and then it was on to a very short flight that took us to Fort Lauderdale.
After landing in Fort Lauderdale, we were greeted by the pastor of New Life Chapel, the church we are partnering with to run the all-sports camp this week. We loaded our 12 bags of equipment and 6 team members into a suburban for the 40 minute ride to Miami. The squeeze into the vehicle was a little more than tight. At one point we were wondering if we would be able to fit everything, but with some helpful team members willing to hold bags on their laps, we all fit. By the time we arrived in Miami, we were more than ready to get out of the packed-full suburban in order to be able to move all our limbs again!
This evening, we enjoyed a wonderful meal with the pastor and his family and a husband and wife couple who lead the youth ministry at the church. After dinner, the men headed off to the church where they will be staying for the week while the ladies remained and got settled into their accommodations. We are all looking forward to a good night’s rest to prepare us for the busy week ahead of us.
Thank you for all your prayers for safe travels. We are very thankful to have arrived safely with no major problems! We are very blessed to have the opportunity to be in Miami with New Life Chapel!
