Miami Update #2
The Lord’s Day! Today was a great day spent in fellowship with the local Church and being a part of their worship this morning. We were able to have breakfast at the Pastor’s house again this morning, which consisted of some delightful omelettes, cereal, and fruit. We rode to the Church with the Pastor and his family. Sunday School started at 9:30, with our group breaking off into pairs and going to each of the different classes going on that morning. We were extremely blessed to have been ministered to under some great teachers of the Scriptures. After Sunday School, we attended the worship service in the Church sanctuary. It was a blessing to participate in the songs that were sung and listen to some solid Bible teaching. The passage came from Exodus 20, where Moses writes out the Ten Commandments. We were able to see how God is the God of all creation through this passage.
After Church we were able to spend the afternoon eating some tasty Cuban food. This was our afternoon to get the final preparations ready for camp, so we had to take full advantage of the opportunity. We pumped up all the soccer balls and footballs we would need to be using for the next two days. Tomorrow, we will be playing soccer with the children at the camp. Everything has been prepared for tomorrow… It is just time to trust the Lord for the results.
There are many things that could be prayed about during this time. As of today, we are not sure how many kids will be showing up to the camp tomorrow. We would like for as many kids as possible to show up so that we have the chance to present the Gospel to many people! Pray for the Lord to bring kids from all over the community to the camp. Also, be praying for the volunteers and team members to be able to speak God’s Word faithfully to the children that God has given us the opportunity to minister to. We are uncertain of what tomorrow will look like, but know that the day is in God’s hands. We look forward to finally beginning the camp!
We were challenged tonight during team time with the following passage from the book of Philippians:
“And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11)
We were challenged to not only pray for each other’s physical needs, but for each other to have the capacity to love others the way Christ loves us. As we closed out the night, we had the opportunity to pray for each other in these areas. Only through love can people truly see Christ in us!
