Miami Update #5

We finally arrived at the mid-point of our week at camp! Today’s sport was basketball. Camp, as usual, began at 9:00 a.m. and went until 2:30 p.m. We started the day off with our sportsmanship thought and then transitioned into our basketball stations/drills. We had stations for dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense. Each station lasted 10 minutes and then the groups would head over to the next station. After the stations, we held a coaches vs. campers basketball game along with some knockout competitions. Following that, we had the Church Pastor present the Gospel to all the campers. They were challenged about what it meant to truly accept Christ, which was then discussed during their team time. Team time focused upon doing everything to the glory of God. As 1 Corinthians 10:31 states, “So, whether you eat or drink, do all to the glory of God.” The afternoon consisted of competitions between the team in full basketball games.

The team stayed busy throughout the day. Dinner was at 5:00 at the Pastor’s house, where we had lasagna and salad. We went to help out with the Wednesday night service at Church. Part of the group attended the youth group while a couple of us went to the little children’s class. We helped teach the classes. The night went really smooth and the team members were able to really further many relationships with the people at the Church. We ended up having our team time at the Church immediately following the service, where we had two team members share testimonies and engaged in a time of prayer and worship as a team.

The kids have really seemed to be opening up to the team now that they have established relationships with us. We are praying for the Lord to work in their lives and for them to have an awakened desire to pursue God. We continue to ask for prayer that the Lord will do these things!
