Zambia Trip Update #13 August 1, 2013
We arrived safely in Livingstone after saying our goodbyes this morning. The trip was about 3.5 hours, most of the team slept for the ride. After checking into our lodging, we stopped for a quick lunch and then headed to the mighty and impressive Victoria Falls, which happens to be one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. Needless to say, it’s breath taking even this time of year when there isn’t much water flowing in the Zambezi River that spills over it.
We were able to hike to the bottom of the gorge as well, which was some nice added exercise! It also added some excitement as baboons blocked our path a couple times. Several of us were able to get pictures of us literally walking with in a few feet of them as they ‘guarded’ the path. They weren’t to interested in us but obviously knew they were in charge.
All the walking made us hungry so we enjoyed pizza for dinner, followed by an ice cream cone at the local bakery! We are now getting ready for bed because tomorrow we have an early start as we head to the game park to see as many animals as possible.
It’s special to get the opportunity to see these parts of God’s beauty that some of us may never see again!
