Elem Katambo
Program Director

Elem Katambo helps to develop and implement the long-term goals and objectives of our Zambia ministry. Elem works with the program staff from recruiting to program completion. His passion and dedication are some of the reasons our Zambia program has grown significantly.

Before coming on staff with Push The Rock in 2014, Elem played soccer for a few teams including Macha Hospital Sparrows, Macha United, and Macha Malaria Research.  Elem has also played for the Ministry of Transport and Communication team in the capital city of Lusaka.  Currently Elem plays and serves as team manager on Push The Rock FC, our own team in the local men’s soccer league.

In 2002 during high school, Elem met several friends who were Christians. They invited Elem to a club called Scripture Union. Elem never agreed, but they didn’t give up trying to invite him. One night, God showed Elem in a vivid dream that he was heading down the wrong path. He wrestled with giving his life to Jesus that year, but chose to wait. After a series of mistakes and hardships, Elem gave his life to Christ in 2006.

God is teaching me about…

The professional athlete I most want to compete against is

The best lesson I learned about sportsmanship was…
At age 16, I had a teacher by the name of Mr. Chimunya. He made me understand what sport really is despite losing at times. He used to tell us that good character and practice are needed in a player’s life. He used to say there will always be one winner or one winning team. He used to say, “Accept defeat and congratulate your opponents always.”
