Sports Ministry Associate
Sajid is originally from Venezuela, now living in Tenerife, Spain, helping his family with the ministry of church planting. When his dad taught him to play basketball a long time ago, he never thought about a plan, he just centered on himself and his family. When God started to move in the hearts of his family members, everything changed. He began to understand that everyone has to know about God and that it is more important get closer to God so that people can know Him. God showed Sajid though Jesus’ example that since He give everything for him, why should he not do the same for Him since there are a lot people losing their lives without God. Sajid has always been looking to serve God and has done so in many different ways. But when Push The Rock took a short term trip to Venezuela, he said to himself, “One day I want to serve with that ministry because I love sports and it is an easy way to connect with people. It’s so amazing how this ministry is impacting the world!”
Where did you go to high school? If you went to University, where did you go? Did you attend/graduate from any other academic institutions?
I went to two different institutions during my high school years, both in Venezuela. One of them was Nuestra Señora del camino and the other was a military school where I studied international business.
What is God teaching you?
God is teaching me right now that He is in control of my future. I don’t have to worry or think too much about that, I have to live faithful to Hime every day, living day by day and doing the best that I can to honor Him.
What is your favorite food or beverages for post-training recovery?
Most of the time after training, I eat chicken or bananas. They are very good for recovery energy and are healthy.
What is your favorite food to eat?
My favorite food is a Chick Fil A sandwich, but since I am living outside of the US, that means I don’t have it very often. In Tenerife, I like a lot of food, like arepas, pabellon, and papas arrugadas, most of these are typical food from Venezuela and Tenerife.
What is your favorite drink?
My favorite drinks are fruit smoothies, including mango, banana, and strawberry.
Who is one professional athlete you would like to compete against?
I would always like to compete against my Dad since he was a professional basketball player in Venezuela. For me it is fun to play with him. From the NBA, I would like to compete against Magic Johnson since I like how he has the vision to pass the ball.
What the best lesson you learned about sportsmanship?
I think one of the most important sportsmanship lessons that I learned was that when someone falls down, we have to pick them up. I like this because everyone on this earth also falls because of sin and without Jesus, we can’t stand up by ourselves. We need what He did for us on the cross. So, when someone is down and other person helps them up, that shows that his heart is full of mercy, like God did with us. God’s mercy is amazing, everyday He forgives us.
